Why Organic?

Organic foods...

are sometimes grown with the use of pesticides but what makes them different from conventional farming are the types of pesticides used and farming methods employed.  100% organic produce employs pesticides and fertilizers processed from natural sources while conventional farming utilizes strong chemically synthesized agents, many of which are shown to be damaging to health and the environment.

We believe what one puts in their body affects health and long-term wellbeing of self and environment; while the decisions we make as consumers collectively shape and effect the environment we share.

Tastes Great
Organic and locally farmed produce is usually picked when it’s ripe and at its peak flavor and nutritional value. Rich soil, farmed without the use of artificial pesticides, produces healthy plants that taste fantastic.

It’s Healthy
Fresh organic foods often contain more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other micronutrients than conventionally farmed produce.

High Standards
Organic certification ensures that food has been grown and handled carefully to avoid the use of unwanted chemicals.

Free from Additives & Preservatives
Eating 100% organic ensures you’re getting food free of chemical preservatives, antibiotics, growth hormones and genetically engineered products.

Good for the Earth
Organic soil practices protect our water resources by avoiding nitrogen-leaching fertilizers and polluting chemicals. Organic agriculture helps prevent these chemicals from getting into the air, earth and water.

Sustainable Agriculture
Sustainable farming provides a secure living for farm families; maintains the natural environment and resources; supports the rural community; and offers respect and fair treatment to all involved, from farm workers to consumers to the animals raised for food.

Organic Meats

Are fed the natural diets they are supposed to eat, and are more humanely raised. Our organic pork and poultry come from farms, where animals are fed an organic vegetarian diet. Our seafood is wild, line-caught and sustainable, sourced from San Francisco's Costarella Seafood. Our pork comes from Organic Prairie family farms, pioneers in organic farming, having helped shape federal organic meat certification standards. Their farmers mission is to provide the healthiest, most wholesome meat, raised humanely in accordance with organic principles and practices—respecting the dignity and interdependence of human, animal, plant, soil and global life.
